  • XS1100 "Murder" Enduro Build Thread

    Hi folks,

I've been helping out at the recently opened 515Moto / Lowside Garage out here in Baltimore, MD and they have me working on a full build out of an XS1100 for a customer. I think it's gonna turn out pretty cool.

The engine that came with it had a gnarly oil leak and an unremovable head that is causing us to swap it with another engine. The carbs have been completely restored, and now we are moving on to the frame build out and all the goodness. Here are some rough plans:
    • Chop tail right off, small kicked up hoop.
    • Single tuck and roll seat.
    • Nobby enduro style tires.
    • Raised handlebars.
    • Stripped all frame of everything but head and brake light.
    • Black out everything with paint and powder. "Murdered Out"
    • Some custom pegs and battery box and various doo-dads.

There is lots more that I'm sure will be included. I think it's gonna be a fine build. Here are some initial pictures and be sure to check out these guys http://515moto.com/ if you are in the Baltimore area and follow my Instagram, where I'll be posting more pics (as well as here)

bump, interested in watching this build. How you going to close up the tail section you cut off? Making your own or buying a loop kit?

For the tail we capped off the frame tubes and added a little hoop to support the seat pan. John of Monstercraftsman did the welding (He's a monster at it.)

        Here are some pics:

The seat pan is simply 1/8" stock bent to shape and cut to fit. We removed the whole stock gas tank mount in favor of some under mounted tabs, and same for the seat, 3 tabs into welded threaded bungs to hold it down after upholstery. It should clean up the strange seat/tank transition on these bikes.
