  • aftermarket seat pan install ?

I bought an aftermarket fiberglass seat pan and the accompanying install kit. Install kit is 4 mounting blocks and a flat wooden pan to mount the seat pan to.

After mocking it up, the seat pan is about 3/4" too high. Meaning it does not make contact with the mounting pan...it's floating above it.

    I have 2 options:
    1. I add 3/4" piece of wood as a spacer to make it work OR
    2. Cut off about 9" of the frame where the blinkers mounts. Since I'm not using the rear fender, I don't need this material. This will allow the seat pan to sit flush w/o any additional spacer. (I'm using smaller aftermarket blinkers too which can mount elsewhere.)

I'd like to go option 2, but I'm nervous about making the cut.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!!

Hey Jet. Thanks! In the 1st, the tail light section of frame is cut off.

In 2nd, that's the kit I have,..but the seat pan does not sit on that flat wooden piece because the frame is in the way. So I can either add more spacer or cut the tailight section of frame off.

      Advice from here?

If I chop frame, what do you guys fill the hole with?

Some of these places sell frame loops. You cut the frame and weld a loop in its place. Watch the video. You might want to just raise the whole thing with some square tubing.

Thanks again Jet. I just contacted him about the appropriate frame hoop I would need. I will also consider just a flat straight piece of metal to weld on, or caps if I can find something to match up.

Will be done this weekend. Thanks!
