My bike has a honda tank which holds about 2 gallons of gas. Is 80 kilometres reasonable mileage or is something wrong.

A well tuned XS11 should get about 33-35 mpg. I don't know how that converts to kph. 88kph is 55 mph isn't it?

Chris, with spirited riding on an XS you could get as low as 48 kilometres per gallon (about 30 miles per gallon). Less spirited riding on a well tuned XS you could / should get 60-64 kilometres per gallon.

So I suppose if you have a 2 gallon tank with 1/2 gallon reserve, ~2l, with spirited riding you might be looking for petrol in as little as 80 km.

Some Special owners I know start looking for gas stations when they pass 75-80 miles (120-130 km.) on their 3 gallon tanks.

Chris - if you're talking about 80 km (50 miles) to 2 imperial gallons, you are getting very poor mileage. Tsunami and Purple Reign (both '81 H with full touring package) consistently deliver between 45 to 50 miles per imperial gallon. This is about 36 to 40 miles per US gallon. Time for a good tune-up......

Thanks for the replies. I just got the bike and it runs good most of the time, but occasionally sputters. There was fuel stabilizer in the tank when I got it, and now that I have run it dry, I know that the gas is good. I will check the mileage again and decide if it needs to go to the shop. I would post a picture but am new to the site and have not figured that out yet. I have been to Revelstoke a couple of times snowmobiling but not this year. Any snow left

Yes, Chris, they're still sledding around here. The numbers are down but we're still seeing quite a few rigs at the Best Western (just off the end of our street) every weekend. Maybe you need to think about throwing your bike in the back of your truck and bringing it over one weekend.....

Im sure saddened that me and my wife never made it this year. We usually stay at the Monashee, Im sure you know what Im talking about. Last May (26th) we went fishing one day(it was 30C above) and sledding the next. What a spot. Must be nice riding for a bike on the highways and biways in the summer as well. Im still getting this motorcycling together, but maybe someday, who knows.
