  • Question posted for New Member BirgerP regarding Denmark regulations

    Hey folks,

A new member wrote to us using the COntact Us link, he lives in Denmark, and has just acquired an XS11 with an EZS sidecar. He says that he needs an "attest" , I think he means a certification that the XS11 is approved for use with sidecars....perhaps something that is required in Denmark. I know from what I've heard from folks in Germany that they are extremely limited in what can be done/modified to a motorcycle and still pass their inspections or certifications...so perhaps Denmark has similar??

I told him that I don't recall any such certification required by the USA. But that he may need to contact a YAMAHA dealer in Denmark where I would think they would be more knowledgeable with regards to the regulations and might also be able to provide the documentation he needs to be able to use the EZS sidecar!?

Any thoughts, comments, anybody in Denmark that can provide more info for him??

    T.C.

    Here's his exact words:
I have just bought an SX1100 w. EZS sidecar.
I have problems getting this approved for registration and need attest for the SX1100 showing that this model is approved for sidecar mount.
Any help will be much apreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I have visited the EZS website, but could not find the model of the sidecar. Wrote to them.
More essential is the SX 1100 certification from Yamaha for sidecar mount if available somewhere.
Yamaha told they do not provide souch (anymore)

Yamaha told they do not provide such (anymore)
          Hi birger,
all Yamaha will tell you is that they don't recommend it.
They also tell you not to exceed the speed limit on a bike that can easily go twice as fast.
Of course an XS11 can haul a sidecar but unlike here in North America where a sidecar is considered an accessory like a fairing or a saddlebag your problem is getting your EZS rig approved by the registration Nazis.
          Good luck with that.

Fred made me think (oops). Considering Denmark is part of the European Union all vehicles having a EU registration, registration must be possible in all other European countries. What paperwork is with the bike? Or are you trying to import the sidecar only?
