I'm looking for a straight spring rate for my xj11. Racetech has a listing for the xs but not xj, are the springs a different length? Progressive shows the same part # for both bikes. Thanks

XS fork springs in XJ?

Progressive only provides the 1 spring for both standards and specials. The Specials have longer tubes since they use the leading axle slider, and so Progressive states the use of a ~4" spacer is required when using in the specials. The XJ are the same style as the specials, so I would expect them to also require a spacer. I haven't checked the Yamaha Parts Fiche #'s to see if the springs are the same or not for the XS standard and specials vs. the XJ.

Maybe try contacting these guys, I have a set of straight wound in my FJ forks on my 79F.
You can calculate the rate you need on their site and ask them for a set for 37MM forks.
Edit: they do have a listing for XS1100 which will work in your XJ.

thanks fellas. i finally received an email back from racetech. the springs for the xs require a spacer as they're 425mmX26mm. the xj shows a 599.2 free length so i just have to adjust the spacer to my length. ended up ordering the emulators also, hopefully they're as good as they say!

RaceTech emulators rock! If they provided the springs to your spec, you will no longer have the same old bike. Ask them to provide you with the tuning guide. Figuring it out on your own will be very trying.
My XS was short two holes in the damper rods. Enlarging the existing holes didn't work. I needed two more. I can't remember if it's six or eight holes that you end up with. Can't have too many, so long as the rod supports the spring.Marty (in Mississippi)
