    WELCOME to the forums, Aaron!

Here are photos of a '78E and an '81 Venturer, as delivered from the factory.

    First, the '78E ...

    And the '81 Venturer ...

    Hope that helps!

And yes, as BA80 said, definitely check your VIN to be absolutely certain of what bike you have.

Well it looks like the top one with hard bags, trunk and a fairing/windjammer/vetter or what ever you call it. It has the square headlight. I'm really new to the bike community other than a is 400 i used to have. So just have a little patience with me.

A dressed XS1100E should look similar to this one. The fairing is Pacifico.

                Hi Aaron,
Welcome. Sounds as though you have a 78E with tour package.
While they are all good in their own way, including the Frankenbikes it is really useful to know exactly what you have when asking questions and trying to solve issues. while many parts will interchange others are specific to a given year. Most of us have named our bikes
start a separate thread for each of your projects and post lots of pictures.

And finally, I will work on getting the bikes in my name before i part money into them. As i said I appreciate you guys helping already.
Ahem.......if you look closely at your signature that I created with your membership, it clearly says 78E "FULL DRESS"...not Venturer! I never stated that it was a Venturer...just a 78E with the full touring package. And I try to suggest to new members to use the VIN#/SER# thread in the MISC forum to verify their year/model type and make any corrections needed to their profile and signature. Just wanted to clear the air....these guys hold me to a decent standard of performance and knowledge!

And Aaron, we like to have "FUN" with our tips and such, no malice intended, just some 'brotherly' funnin' for ya. We know you're a newbie.

Well topcat our the pro here, what i meant was that i thought it was a venturer and the guy told me what was written was wrong. So I said that you wrote it, not meaning you were wrong. I just don't know much about these bikes so i was in the wrong. Anyway thanks for clearin he air. Hope there's no offence.
