motorman, I agree with you. The reason I was wanting to do it is I like the metzeler but they do not make the 880 or 888 marathon in the 130-90-17 size. So I wonder if the 140-80-17 would fit. I will just stay with what I got. Thanks.

Understand that. I liked the same tire, but obviously not happening. The ContiGo's are similar in tread design, and is what I went with.
Only got 1100mi. On them with 800+ of that to, during and back from rally. Heavy rain had no adverse effect and stayed planted pushin' a few corners on wet road. Rear swingarm clearance is .015 with no sign of ever touching as I did manage a couple mountain pass high speed twisties grinding the outsides of my boots. Extremely smooth and the previous rear end wag under a heavy side load eliminated. Was just my experience using them so far. The Venturer was also heavily loaded down the times I did put the tires to a bit of a test.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

            hi boatdoctor,
I have an 880 on the front of mine and would hapily have put one on the rear if they made it in 17"
I guess 29 Xsives are not sufficient to make a tire model available
