  • Re-Purposing an XS1100 Final Drive

    Hello All,

Shortly after acquiring my '79 Special, I changed the final drive to one from an XS850. Once of the best mods I have ever made to a bike.

I also have an '81 XJ650 Special and was wondering if there was any benefit, or if it was even feasible, to changing its final drive to the one I pulled from my XS1100.

Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

    xj/xs

I just happen to have a spare 650 maxim rear wheel and for grins attempted to put it on my parts bike...81 xs 11...no dice... splines don't match hub size is different combined with the fact that the xj has a drum rear brake

Wasn't sure if the brake made a difference. Did not know that the splines don't match. Thanks for the reply.
