    I don't know if you have done this: a test you could try with your old regulator plugged into the bike harness is to tap into the green field coil wire and ground it. Rev up the motor with a meter hooked to the battery and check for a voltage increase, should go up to 14-15 volts at 4500 RPM if the alternator is charging. This should confirm a bad regulator.
