        Little update:
        Haven't done much to the bike other than maintenance and riding. I'm happy with it.
        I did swap the speedo out for a 140mph one I got for $5 at a swap meet. I think it was from an XS650.

          If anyone knows of a rust free tank for sale at a reasonable price let me know!

            Ah, the beauty of these bikes! Once they are correct, you can spend a LOT more time riding, and LESS time on maintenance. Let me look in my storage this weekend. I know I have two special tanks, just don't know what condition they are in.....

              Hey Cat,

              Your tank looks good! Does it just have some rust on the inside?? IF so...then you can treat it THIS FALL after riding season with some EVAPORUST, and then IF you want, you can apply a chemical liner.

              The Ethanol allows water vapor to develop more in the tank, and so can contribute to rust formation after it's cleaned/derusted....but others have posted that they just keep FUEL in the tank and it stays rust free...YMMV!?

                  Old School?

                  ==========
                  I must be more old school than I know? I'll die of old age before I get used to seeing white wall tires on a bike and what is up with the funky tape on the header pipes? How did that get started? Is that supposed to look cool too? Does it serve any other purpose? Aside from covering up the chrome?
                  ==========
                  Some of the mods I get -- like blacking out some of the gawdy chrome, etc. But some of them just have me scratching my head. And I've never been fond of making out with the gas tank lid -- not my idea of a good time. I do agree those king/queen seats redefine fugly -- I couldn't be seen in public in daylight with one of those . . . kinda' like dating a fat girl in HS -- no I didn't! Differnt strokes for differnt folks I guess.

                    I like it as well.... a fat tire up front would make it a real bruiser.... don't think any are available though.... I always gravitate towards the repurposed bikes myself. Something about saving them from the scrape yard and turning them into something special.

                      Cat, the tank is fine on the inside, it's just really ugly. There are a few sizable dents/dings on it but it's hard to tell in pics because the color hides them. I would try popping them out but there are creases and the tank was lined previously. It would be easier just to grab another special tank.

                      The bike has been pretty low maintenance after bringing it back from the dead. I'm surprised a high mileage bike in rough shape took so little to be roadworthy after sitting in a barn for 16 years.

                      Whhhhhaatt?? I love the header wrap on my friend's Nightster. If I had HD money I'd buy one and bob the crap out of it with white walls, drag bars, solo seat, the whole 9 yards. That thing is right up my alley...

                        Looks great! The XS11 is the best kept cafe secret Let's keep it that way. Doesn't weigh much more then the CB750's everyone else does and the XS11 eats CB's for breakfast!

                        Mine is almost done. Can't wait to post some pics of her.

                            I think the XS is a solid 60 lbs heavier than the cb750s. No idea what mine weighs with all the crap stripped off.

                            Really? That's weird. Are you trying to view it on android or something else? Because when I right click on each of those broken photobucket links and click view image the right photo pops up.
