  • Bypassed kill switch. Help to repair.

PO bypassed the kill switch somewhere down the loom from the controls. I want to repair it for my upcoming skills test as well as it's just safer.

Where would a PO do that if he were so motivated. The guy also got rid of the fuse box!?!?! so there are a bunch of spliced wires there. I'm guessing he bypassed the kill switch there.

The wiring diagram I have shows the kill switch as black/white but mine are red/white.

Knowing how that functions would help.

Thanks. I can post pics if needed.

The blk/wht you are seeing is probably the tip over switch, called the emergency stop switch in the wiring diagram. The red/wht you are looking for is labeled handlebar switch right and forms a loop between the tci, solenoid, ballast resistor, and ignition coils. When the connection is interrupted, there is no power to the solenoid and the ignition coils.

If the harness is modified your pretty much on your own. The wires to the kill switch are red/w white stripe on all XS's.

Thanks. Got it! Just knowing the right wires was helpful

Found what the SOB PO did.... Hack! How long would it have taken to do this right?
