OK, well I suppose that the vacuum changed above the fluid levels with the changes made. I guess that would make sense. Static changes vs. dynamic (running) gasoline height changes. Brant, the clear tube method is a manometer (U-tube) unless I am out in left field! I suppose I need to go back and find the posts...I do vaguely remember it.

Left field Sid.............manometer function is based off vacuum draw. Tubing or similar up the side of a container is gravity based and all that other scientific rhettoric. Hang in there, Vedgar and I arn't done YET.

The actual fuel level is 3 mm below bottom of the carb body. I was not using the factory book setting for the 81 carbs as a benchmark, it just happens to fall at that setting. It is also the only setting given for the 81 float level. In a previous post you can see my pic of the clear tube test. Skids, read all the carb posts and glean all the info from them. These are production mass produced bikes carbs etcetera. What works for one may not work for all. I have been rebuilding carbs and fixin cars and bikes for 45 years professionally and as a hobby. I still learn from others all the time and am in awe of the crap I don,t know YET ! Read listen and learn is my motto. OK I can get off my soapbox now.

        Hi Vance,
Agree with the slight varience of mass production. I too spend 40+yrs. professionally in the automotive world along with performace engine buiding and drag racing as a hobby. Ironicly, carb re-building and setting up for track, off-road and street became my forte for myself, and many others as I used to rebuild and set up carbs of all flavors for street, off road(four-wheelin'), and track. Same principal, just downdraft instead of sidedraft. So, your soap-box is well taken, and follow your reasoning for the settings you've chosen.
