  • 1980 SG horn position

I know this is picky, but did the factory install horns in two different positions on the 1980 SG. Original owner says he never altered the original position of his horns. They are mounted on separate brackets facing down from the center frame bar. Mounted just above #2 and #3 exhaust downpipe. All pictures I see of factory mounting show the horns mounted outboard of the cylinder head on horizontal brackets. Seems like the inner position would have less vibration stress on the brackets. Hmmm.

Item #20 is the stay that the horns mount on. Note that it is horizontal.

      Got it !

The horizontal bracket mounting is how they are now mounted (changed by me from the vertical mounting ). I will post a pic of the mounting brackets as I got the bike. If the PO just forgot he made a change to vertical mount, he did a damn good job of engineering a nice set of brackets and fasteners.
