I think most people opt to use PlastiDip in the spray can and apply a number of thin coats. I was a bit overzealous and put it on too thick on my XJ. The manifold have pits in them now that make me think of brownies. For me, it looks better than tired, cracked rubber, but I'd much rather replace them with new flexible parts to make carb work easier.

I was able to get 2 more years from my original '78 boots by covering them in black RTV. Best way is to remove the boots, wash them in HOT soapy water followed up with generous hosing of Simple Green and a good rinsing with hot water. Towel dry well. Cover with black RTV and let cure overnight. You will need to make/buy new intake gaskets for this.

Or, buy the cheap $67 boots like I did 2 years ago from eBay. They are working just fine on my '78.
        1) Fire up Internet Explorer
        2) http://www.yahoo.com
        3) type "www.mapquest.com" into the Yahoo search page.
        4) go about day as VP managing multi-million dollar financial contracts.

+1 on Diskman's $67 for boots 2 years ago. Mine are working great.
