Hey, everyone. I've got a bit of a conundrum, which probably has a very simple solution, but I'm electrically challenged, and can use some guidance.
I bought a shock mounted license plate/tail light combo, but the challenge I have is with wiring it. The stock light goes to a connector with 2 yellow wires, 2 blue, and 2 black, for a total of 6 wires, which supply 2 separate bulbs. My new light has just 2 wires. One green, one black. I put the black wire in one of the black connector spots, but the thing won't work right, no matter what I do with the green wire. If I put it in the blue, I get a tail light, but no brake light, if I put it in the yellow, I get a brake, but no tail, and if I split the 2, I thought I'd get both, but nope, just tail with no brake again.
How do I get both tail light and brake light function with just these 2 wires?
