Zero voltage reading on black/white to ground during TCI unit voltage test

Hi,

Doing TCI unit voltage test per manual on 79 XS11F.

I see required 12V on four wires but on Black/White to ground, where I should see 6V, I get nothing.

Does this tell me, or anyone, something specific, or just point me to need to trace that Black/White wire back to source and continue from there?

I'm guessing the later and will continue down that path, but, am also hoping for magical pointer or answer as to what 0V reading on this wire means to me.

The Blk/wht wire goes to the emergency stop switch. There is a diode inside the TCI that the current goes through to get to that terminal. If you have 12 volts at the red/wht wire, and you have some voltage at two of the wires in the 4 conductor plug, (I don't have a way to tell you which two, try all 4 to ground, and two of them should show some voltage with the key on), then chances are that the diode is open. That is not a deal breaker, it just means that the stop switch will not work, since if the current can flow through the diode to the kill switch then to ground, it will kill the ignition. If it can't flow through, since the diode is open, you cannot kill the ignition with the emergency stop switch.
