  • Kerker baffle removal

    Howdy Ya,ll
I was wondering if anyone has a idea or trick to remove the baffle from a set of Kerker headers?
I removed the screw from the pipe (of course it broke off)
cleaned the area where the baffle SHOULD come out but it wont.
I am not too concerned with the loudness of he pipe but the rattling of the loose innards are maddening.
I tried to "coax"the guts out by using a long piece of pvc and loosening it that way....no dice..
I have a replacement ordered ..(non Kerker)but would rather not destroy the original.

I remember it being somewhat difficult to remove the baffle from the Kerker on my XJ. I used a screwdriver to apply leverage to the inside of the opening at the end, slowly working around the middle, working the baffle it in and out until it came loose. I did mark up the inside diameter of the opening a little, but it had apparently already been done in the past and had a little damage, so I wasn't worried.

I'm not sure if the other end of the baffle that nests inside where it starts to enter the rest of the exhaust could seize in place. You may also be able to tap it out with the muffler off. I don't remember if the tube from the baffle extends past the muffler joint, but that could make life easier if that is the case.
