    My standard cut and paste

I have said this so many times that I wrote it down and now I just cut and paste it.

Before you dive into carbs everything¬ else must be in tune. Do a complete tune-up including timing, valve clearances, spark plugs, synchronizing….everything. In spite of any exhaust or air filter modifications, set everything back to factory stock and start from there then tune from the top down like this …. www.factorypro.com/tech/carbtun.html. Use the high RPM version.

It is a pain in the @$$ to do but it works. And you might find that you tune out that stumble off-idle that everyone complains about with pod filters and a header.

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

      Crab Replacement

+1+!+1 with TADracer. There are no "magic" carburetors for these bikes or any other engines.

If you have a driveability problem, it can be cured by repairing/adjusting the stock items on the bike.

I wasn't really looking for a "magic" replacement, I was thinking with the technology advancements that may have been made with carb design that it might be better than screw around with jetting the old ones. (but I realize the function is the same and the physics of them doesn't change) The last time I screwed around with it, I did for 2 weeks (or more), adjusted valves, float levels, rebuilt petcocks, cleaned carbs, balanced them.
But, I guess what I'll end up doing is working on it this winter when it starts raining again.
I did however apply the choke at 5k and it did make it worse, so it does seem it may be a richer condition. I was riding home last night and once I was able to get it past 6500 rpm it seemed to get on it alittle more. So the stumble will sometimes start around 5k and go to 6500.
Anyway, another quick question does anyone know if there is an air filter that has 2 mount holes rather than 1 filter per carb, I found the K&Ns but they were individual filters, it'd be nice just to have 2 filters rather an 4 to clean, and it might look better too.
        Cheers!

K&N does have a dual carb filter that should work. I was working with an Aussie member that wanted them but he eventually decided against them due to shipping costs. Don't remember the part number though.
