  • Need some ideas for silencer/muffler

Stock pipes are toast. It's straight pipes for now. Looking for cheaper bolt-and-go systems to attach to the header pipe. I don't care that much about aesthetics, but more to knock that sound down. Basically looking for cheapest options to throw on their. Been looking through trying to find some emgo ones...but don't really know if these would be worth the time.

      mufflers

Some of the guys here have found that Auto zone ,O Reilly's etc.
carry an automotive style one (Supertrapp I think) that fits larger diameter pipes . (Not knowing what type of pipes you have.?)
      Good luck

Mike's XS has a bunch of options if your outlets aren't too big.

I have to measure, they are stock. They were 2 into 1 pipes. It looks like the back half was already hacked and welded but I don't want to deal with those. They don't slip over the header pipes anymore.

measure your pipe outlets then look at cheery bomb or thrush glasspaks lots of different pipe diameters and lenghts, you would have to make or buy some hanger brackets
where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?

Just found a guy on eBay that is selling the emgo dunstall reps for almost 1/2 the price at JCW. Just wrote him to see if he has the entire line ?
The emgo Dunstall would be a little long as I found out on my LH, any of the re-packable ones which I think gives you 2 choices.
They can be made to last 5 yr. or more, YMMV

Sold these today-- tried to sell them here on a thread 1 week or so ago, no bites. If the guy doesn't put the $ into my paypal by the determined time, they will be available. They are off my XS, the ones on FunFan73's p.bucket album.

I've put Harley mufflers on 2 XS11s and they were great on both bikes. They also clear the axle bolt making rear tire service easier...

The pair I have on my 79 Standard came with heat shields and I installed those too so my grandkids would be less likely to get burns but so far I've only give one grandkid a bike ride... Better safe than sorry I suppose.
