  • XJ1100 Front Brake Master Cylinder?

So I bought this cheap Chinese front brake (except mine was black) :
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brake-Master...d1e1c5&vxp=mtr

I would squeeze the hell out of them and my front brakes would do nearly nothing.

Then yesterday, I was putting my front wheel back on after getting a new front tire.

I had to compress the piston to get that caliper back on.
( forgot to take the top off the master cylinder -_- )
And my little window that shows fluid lever POPPED,
so now, no front brakes, again.

Anyone wanna help me, or give a recommendation as to what lever/master cylinder I should get that will actually do something?

I would prefer a universal one.

I know it needs that banjo bolt to be 10x1.25mm.
and it needs to fit standard 7/8" handlebars.
    Prefer something cheaper-ish.
    Oh and I prefer ebay.

I noticed now that piston bore on the one I got was only 12mm...
    That way too small?

This one is 14mm, is it any better?:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/14mm-7-8-Lef...ff9a2f&vxp=mtr

    OR THIS?! 7/8" piston?? :

I think that last one should be good, what do you guys think?

I have an original front XJ master cylinder that works but the rear view mirror mount is busted. If you want it it's yours for shipping cost.

That 14mm one said that is a LEFT side. Probably wont work for your application.

edit they say they also have the right side ones.

I'd like something new, but what condition is it in?
        Got some pics?
I'd gladly pay you more than shipping for it if it is nice.
What is the bore size on those?
Just wondering if something aftermarket would be even better?

Yeah just saw that. They have the same one for right hand side too though.
But I think the other link is better anyways, what do you think?

Are you still running the linked brakes? or is you Front MC controlling both front calipers?

              Linked brakes still.
I was considering unlinking them, but I need a better front brake first, considering that my last one couldn't even operate 1 well!!! hahaha

I'm not an expert on the bore sizes needed, but I would think the 14mm would work. the 5/8" May not allow the brake handle to travel much to give you more control.

The XS1100 stock front MC are 14mm and some are 9/16". If you are going to de-link them I would lean towards the 5/8" but I think the 14mm should work for both ways.

Ok, well I think I wan't to unlink them at some point, So I think I will go with the 5/8" ...Plus I'd rather have more braking power than less, I can get used to touchy brakes, my FZR'S front brakes are adjustable and I have them on the stiffest setting.

Thanks for the help making my decision!

You can get new reproduction mater cylinders for the XS650's and some of them had the exact same dual front disc setup as the XS1100.
