does anyone know of a replacement for the subject part number. In searching for it is seems that Yamaha no longer makes these. It is the rubber gasket that fits under the front fork cover on the 1980 LG SG and I am sure other models. The fork tubes slide inside this gasket on their way up to the fork ears. I managed to rip both of mine... I am sure the fact they are 34 years old had nothing to do with them tearing. Anyway has anyone come up with a good replacement for these? I can't be the only one looking for them. I was giving some though into maybe trying some old fork seals.... which I don't have either but they are about the right size.

    rubber washers

    Howdy,
Go to your local Home Depot and in the plumbing section you will find
rubber washers that are normally used for sink drains that are a pretty close fit.can't remember if for kitchen or bathroom sink so take the old ones to compare sizing.

If you have the old rubber piston rings from a caliper rebuild they should work.

Edit: Oops, I see you have a Special, the Standard caliper piston rings are the correct ones, Specials are too large.

          found a replacement

There is a company here in Jackson MS called Mississippi Rubber that had the rubber washer with the exact 37mm id and was slightly larger od then the 47mm of the original gasket. It was more like 51mm but was actually better because it was the exact dimension of the cavity under the front fork cover. I lubed them with red rubber grease this time and the fork tube slid right in no problem. Anyway if you are interested or need the part you can visit their website and give them a call. http://www.msrubber.com/5020.html
