  • XJ1100 carb kit ?

Found a guy that owns a salvage yard and does upholstery, Ron at Milwaukee Cycle. He has an 82 XJ1100 rat (wish I had brought my camera !) that he's going to re-do the carbs on, he wants all the parts to rebuild carbs before he starts. He seems to be a good guy and I'd like to help him.
So where can he get complete rebuild kits ?

'Kits' ususally are NOT necessary, aside from the fact they will NOT have Genuine Mikuni jets for one, and it goes downhill from there, unless using Genuine Mikuni rebuilt kits..........and I don't think either you or him, and I for that matter have deep enough pockets for Miknini kits.
Normally, what he will need are new replacement Viton float needles. This would be the ONLY time that a K&L product wouldbe fine(and cheaper). The only thing I would reccomend is use the stock float needle hangers, not the K&L ones. The Mikuni float needle hangers are one continious piece, whereas the K&L's(and other afermarket ones) are open ended on the float hanger part. Not that that type could necessarily cause an issue, but open ended like that COULD cause a float needle to cock or get wedged, which very well could ruin your day as you watch your scoot go up in flames when that overflowing gas hits that topside engine case for the pre-heat, then ignites when it hits that hot exhaust. Carb issues, specially flooding, running everywhere is nothing to take lightly if you've ever had an 'aw-****' experience with fuel.
