  • We Have JOY!!!

Well, I will try to type this before the site times me out......

Took the carbs off and couldn't find a d@mn thing wrong with them!!!!
I read this site for almost 24 hours straight...
One thing that kept coming up in the posts was the configuration of the PILOT JETS... how many holes?... in the carb end or the top end? sides 6 or 8? 3 or 4? make sure the passages are CLEAN...

All that stuff... well... took the carbs off for the umpteenth time, pulled out the pilots and got some new ones.
My pilots had 3 holes on one side and 2 on the other??? ( 5 ?)

The new ones have 6 total. Put them in thinking 'what difference will this make?'

Cleaned out again (maybe what the problem was but don't think so) and reinstalled carbs on bike.

Nervous as hell with SWMBO watching with doubtfull look on her face..... Started up the Ole Girl.... SHE RAN !!!!!!! (bike not wife lol)

There is a bit of smoke but I think she's burning off some of the winter prep oil etc. As she ran, I messed with the pilot screws and the smoke diminished somewhat.
She revved like crazy and did not hesitate or lag
    EMGO cone filters are OK.....

AS you can tell I am pretty XSited.!!!
Now I got to look at the starter and THEN take it out on the road and try her out.

    THEN... I will put on TC's spin-on oil-filter adapter!!!

THANKS TO ALL for your help and encouragement...
(I have put away the sledge hammer ....for now)
    Thanks again...
    Larry

        Hey there Larry,

Congrats on the work. Now, I hope you saw Marty A's recent post about the Spin On Adapter installation, and will follow his recommendations along with what I provided in the instructions!?
