    81 brakes

    did they make the 81 with single front disc and drum rear? I don't recall ever seeing one like that....but then I could be wrong...I have an 82 maxim 750 with rear drum and it's just about useless....don't know if I wanna go that route with an 1100...and single disc in the front doesn't seem like they want you to stop the thing...

      All XS-XJ 1100's have triple disk. The 81 Midnight and the 82 XJ11 have linked brake setup but still 3 disks.

          looking at the pics it has 1 disc on the front and drum on the rear...now I think I really confussed him when I asked if it was a 750 ....lol

              In a nutshell, the under 1100cc'd Maxims had drum rear, single disc front.
              81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.
