  • Need New Tires

HAVE RECENTLY PICKED UP AN 81 XS1100H WITH LESS THAN 10K; IT HAS THE ORIGINAL TIRES (3.50H-19-PR FRONT&4.50H-17-PR REAR). I'LL BE SHIPPING IT OUT TO THE SOUTHWEST (CANYON COUNTRY) TO USE DURING THE SUMMERS-VERY LITTLE RAIN AND HOT DESERT PAVEMENT. WHAT DO YOU GUYS RECOMMEND, WHAT IS THE EQUIVALENT TIRE SIZE? I'M PARTIAL TO METZLERS WHICH IS WHAT I USE ON MY REST-OF- THE-YEAR BIKE(BMWR1150RT) I'M A SPORT-TOURING KIND OF RIDER AND ALMOST ALWAYS CARRY A PASSENGER. ANY ADVICE ON SIZE, BRAND, OR MODEL TIRES? THANKS

A lot of people have complained about the short life of the Metzeler's and I was told to go for the Bridgestone BT45's. They also have plenty of grip.
Used to ride Michelin Macadams, but I'm glad I changed, the BT45's are way better, especially in the wet, which we unfortunately have a lot of in Denmark.
the size of my tires 100/90-19 and 130/90-17

I ran Avon Super Venoms, but the rear size is hard to find. Also they wear fast, but grip very well. I have a BT 45 on the rear and like it a lot.

            TIRES.............

I put Avon Venom X 110/90-19 tubless on front, and Avon 130/80-17 tubless on rear. Love'em, they hold the road real will wet or dry. And they seem to wear pretty good. They have a softer rubber compond, thats why they hold the road so well. I tend to ride pretty hard so I need the grip.
