  • Just a brake wiring question

The brake warning light on my XJ "dash" is always on (yes pressing the warning control button 2x stops the blinking red light). I'm sure it's because I replaced the front m/c with an after market one with a bigger piston to run both front discs. It has the same Br and G/Y wires as my old m/c for the rear bake light but it has no B or W/B wires for monitoring the fluid level. Consequently I have a B and W/B female bullet connector in the headlight bucket with nothing to plug into them. Do I need to make up a short jumper wire to run between the 2 connectors to remedy this?

The service manual is unclear on this, merely showing a 'normally closed' contact for the fluid level. When the switch closes, it goes to ground (according to the diagram) so connecting the W/B and B wires should turn off the light.

That's what I was guessing should be done. Today I took a piece of wire with alligator clips on each end and clipped it to the female connectors...same thing still happens. If I hook my multimeter to the 2 connectors I don't see any voltage or continuity. Could the Black wire, which I assumed is the ground, have a bad connection and not really be grounded? Should I try my jumper wire from the White w/ Black to the battery ground?
