    I like this method Greg..thanks!!

i am going to leave #3 carb on the rail and try to clean out the passage for the mixture screw...

i will dis assemble the #3 carb as far as possible...gonna use carb cleaner and compressed air
are those little holes in the pic you posted part of the mixture circuit?

where should i be looking for the cleaner to come from, if the circuit is clean? or where should i fish a wire through if possible?

mabey a pic of the holes?

    thanks

They are part of the pilot circuit which is also part of the mixture circuit but feeds the fuel at minimal throttle opening through those 3 holes.

The actual idle mixture is controlled by the pilot screw and fed through the small hole in the top that the mixture screw is in. The idle mixture has virtually nothing to do with the throttle plate angle.

After that the main jets kick in when vacuum reaches the point where the diaphragms pull the slides up and gradually increase the fuel flow through the main jets.

Here's a real simple explanation of the operation of the CV carbs.

There's some carb features (cut outs) in this article that don't apply to our carbs but it gives a pretty good basic operation description.

ok so i took carbs off again and cleaned the passages for the mixture screws

i am possitive that the circuitsarespotless and flowing

put carbs back on ....i placed tank on backward and hooked the front fuel lines up...

put pet cocks on prime and tried to re do the sync job...ho...i bench synced em too.....is this way to hook up lines correct?

the carbs overflowed after about 5 minutes.in wich i still cant get any response from the #3 carb mixture screw

when i turned the no 2 screw the idle climbed alot...i still couldnt get 1&2 and 3&4 to sync together...

and now i cant get the carbs to stop puking gas into my air box..it seems to be #2 carb....

i am about fed up with this thing..i dont mind some restoration work and some wrenching...but now im over 2000 dollars andhavent ridin this thing over 50 miles

also my carbclamps touch when I tighten them up

no air leaks but that seems like just another one of the problems with this thing.....could sure use some help AGAIN!!!

boy this is getting old...I WANNA RIDE!!!
