One thing I didn't see in the photos were INLINE FUEL FILTERS. You can't rely on the IN TANK filter towers that are part of the petcocks! Small pieces of debris, ie. scraped up inner fuel line as well as just rust and such from the tank will get into the carbs between the float needle/seats and cause them to not seal.
There also the hemispherical filters under the float valve seats though, TC? Not that they are good enough either. There were none in the carbs I've just done and aren't likely to be at $20 each I bought good quality in-line filters as per this pic. The tubes are actually glass and the filters are cleanable. I used them on the last XS and they were fine...

Nice James, mine are a tad cheaper, haha.

Guys I feel like an idiot, I did one more cleaning in an ultrasonic cleaner at my local shop and got everything blown out and dry and reassembled off the bike. Put fuel through the carbs and it held. Guess I just needed a little more patience with my cleaning. Anyways I'll post once I get them on the bike again whether or not that fixed it......ugh.

Well she's running. A bit rough but running. Gonna synch carbs as soon as I can and we'll see where that leaves us.
