  • Easy Lube Questions

    (1) My SF came without the dipstick for the middle/final gear cases. I accidently scored a tool kit on eBay. Are the dipsticks the same for all XS11 models, or should I be vigilant to find the correct dipstick?

Also- I am most curious why the rear gear case level is different than my Triples. Sits differently on the centerstand?

    (2) The XS11 driveshaft U Joint calls for molybdenum disulfide grease. Is everyone really using this 'exotic' grease? I have some, but not in the grease gun. I already keep two separate guns with lithium and boat trailer bearing grease. I don't want a third gun just for my 11's U Joint. What does everyone else use?

    1) Yes, all XS11 dipsticks are the same Mike.

    2) How are you greasing the u-joint with a grease gun? That grease zerk on the swing arm shaft tube is completely useless. All it does is pump grease into the tube. It does the joint no good at all.
The only way to grease the u-joint is to disassemble it and pack it.

      (1) Thanks- peace of mind.

      (2) I have not greased the U Joint yet- I have yet to ride my Eleven and I thought I should take care of these last few lube items while I wait for 70 degree weather in Detroit so I can paint the tank. REALLY? Have to disassemble it? Well at least I could use the grease I have instead of stocking a third grease gun.

      Thanks for your input, Greg
