  • Difficult Decision

    Guys,

At 71 years old, with bad knees, one bad shoulder, and scores of other arthritic parts it’s about time for me to get off of motorcycles.

Here’s what I have (all three have clean titles in my name)

1979 Special that runs and looks great. Video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SDtJfTxt0Q. Pictures at: https://picasaweb.google.com/1084313...979XS11Special

1978 Standard. Bought this bike a bit over a year ago and just haven’t gotten around to working on it. Ran at idle when I picked it up. Pictures at https://picasaweb.google.com/1084313...978And1980XS11 (blue bike)

1980 Standard. Don’t know much about this bike. It does turn over and seems to be complete. Hadn’t quite figured out when I would get to it but think it can be saved for sure. Pictures at: https://picasaweb.google.com/1084313...978And1980XS11 (Maroon – 1 picture)

    Boxes of parts, pipes, etc.

I live in Reston, Va. (near DC) and would like to sell the whole load in one lot to someone I know will put them to good use. Let me know if you have any interest.

    Thanks,

    Doug

With Picassa, copy the properties of the full screen image of your photo, then paste it in your post in between [img] [/img].

I can see where safety would be a concern on a two wheel vehicle. Ever give any thought to a trike or can am?

                      Hi Doug,
                      71, eh? I wish I was only 71.
So long as you can still remember where you live it's too early to quit riding.
Although you should think about a saving your knees with a far lighter bike or by hanging a chair on the Special. Specials steer real light if you swap in the 'trees off a Standard.

Also sorry to hear your quitting, these bikes are kinda heavy.
