  • crank case clean out

after my little issue with the cam chain and gears i need to clean some left over debris from my crank case.
i have the top end taken down to the block including cyl.
i have the oil pan and pump off.also removed filter and let everything drain

i sprayed some brake clean into crank case where i could see particles but would like to somehow wash out the crakn case and trans before re build

    need some ideas...

once re assembled i plan to put in fresh filter and cheap oil and turn engine over for a bit then change

gonna do this a couple times then start up for a couple minutes and change again

then good oil and filter and let er rip!!

getting ALL of the big stuff out is my main concerne

how about running the garden house in there for a couple minutes

For me, I wouldn't use water.

Using a battery operated transfer pump, for filling my kerosene heater, I've washed the block of a VW 1600 H4 and a lower end of a Suzuki 185 quadrunner out, with kerosene.

Diesel fuel will work also, any amount that lingers still has petroleum properties.

I have a proper sized catch pan made froma 55 gallon drum.

      Sea Foam

Getting the big stuff out with Brakekleen or another spray solvent along with compressed air will get you headed you in the right direction. After reassembly you can add Sea Foam to your oil and finishing cleaning the crankcase while running the engine. Investing in a magnetic drain plug is a good idea.

transfer pump!!!! thats an awsome idea thanks!!!

i have already removed as much as possible with a magnet..now im removing the old basegasket and what a mo fo that is...like its welded on..so i have alot of old gasket material in crank case to flush out also

i will deffinatley be putting in a magnetic drain plug as well...

will diesel fuel be suitable for a engine flush?

Diesel fuel will be fine to use as a flush, and the compressed air to blow it out, as Mike stated will work best.
