Looks nice. If you are insistent on going sans front fender, you will give up what little structure the forks have to control wobble on curves. Could be hairy. You might consider a tKat fork brace, painted black, to replace the fender, or simply cut down and black out the fender till it it just big enough to bridge the forks.

Hate to see a rider go down.

If this is a 35 mph bar hopper only and never gets up to speed you may get away with it.

Keep up the pics, we love build threads!

There are some pretty cool XS650 braces out there that fit. Do a search for Hughs Handbuilt or Gordon Scott Engineering.

Looks nice, I wish I could get the time and motivation to finish mine. Well done, I think a grab bar would be a nice finishing touch.

There's one in the parts for sale section.

                Hi Dana,
great work you are doing there.
Didja get the bike signed over to you?
Not saying your client ain't an honest person but I read on another list about someone taking a lot of time and money building a basket case into a show winner then the registered owner taking the bike away.
Just saying, be sure what you are working on is really yours.

                  HUGHS HANDBUILT Fork Brace

                  gordon scott engineering fork brace

These are XS650 units. The XS1100 shares the same front wheel with the XS650. XS1100 standards share XS650 fenders. Either of these fork braces should fit the XS1100 Special as the wheel will just sit a little bit forward in relation to the brace.

Looks killer my friend! I sure like the diamond-tuff seat cover. Has a real, seventies muscle bike/resto-mod look. cool.
