  • Oil Leak Location?

Front-left of engine, more on the side. Single drip. Maybe to the left of the #1 cylinder. Any ideas? Oil pan is the obvious location. There are a few bolts on the pan that the OEM exhaust blocks. Those are my culprits. Anywhere else anybody can think of.

That bolt (timing bolt) shot through the ignition cover. No oil there. And, base gasket would be strange.

                Yes it is.

Most likely what Phil stated, the N switch.

I had similar leak on one of my triples-turns out I disturbed the base gasket when I pulled the head.

So I had to pull the head again. Good excuse for new rings.

I got tired of the damn neutral switch always dripping oil, I just plugged that hole with a bolt, problem solved (for me anyway).

its definitely at the front, bottom of engine? Not oil just finding its way down there from higher up, especially if the bike us usually kept on the sidestand. Just a thought...

Yes it is. Mine leaked and for the longest time I always has a little spot of oil under the left side of the engine. Never could find it. It would leak out and run under the starter and then down the crack between the two covers on the left side. You could never see the trail of oil.

Just giving options though, probably is the neutral switch.

Chased an oil leak on RockinD's SG for a while and it tuned out to be the banjo bolt for the oil transfer tube on the back of the head. Looked like it was coming out of the #1 exhaust outlet but it was running around the cylinders inside the finns.

It was hard to figure out. Drove me nuts for a while. (short drive )

Well, if we DoD not get this little "dusting" of snow, I'd be out there looking for it. But, these "warmer" temps will keep the complete bike parked for now.
