I tried it barefoot one time. I won't try that again.

I have saddlebags on mine so I put down the center stand (with my shoe on it), push down on it with my leg and while its balanced there, give a light tug on the saddlebag bar and boom, on the center stand. To me now it is harder to rock it off the center stand then putting it on.

      Center Stand

I found that the biggest tip seems to be that you make sure to lean the bike so it's level. After you take the bike off the side kickstand you have to lean the bike to the right to level it. Left hand on left handlebar, Right hand on the back grab bar (back of the seat) or sissy bar anywhere you can get a good grip. After you take the bike off the kick stand push your right food on the center stand to push it to the floor. Then you have to lean the bike to the right until you can feel the other side of the center stand make contact with the ground (it's kind of shaped like an H. You have to lean her over until the other side of the H hits the ground). The first couple times it feels kinda sketchy leaning that heavy club over without a steady grip on the bike. Once you feel that other side of the center stand hit the ground, make sure the front tire is straight, and all in One motion...Push down hard with your right foot on the center stand (pretty much put all your weight on your right foot and stand up leaving your left food off the ground), lift up with your right hand (on the grab bar) and pull straight back with your left hand (on the left grip). She should roll back onto the stand. Always make sure she's outta gear and the front wheel is straight. Each time it's gets easier, but if you skip any steps it could give you a hard time. I aways center stand her when parking in grass

Next rally I am getting three people to "pop' mine on the centre stand.
Only then will I believe it is my technique that is lacking.
oh and get it it off again.

Phil, take a look at the rocker feet of your center stand.

I had to rebuild mine as they are hollow and they were slightly crushed/ deformed and were hindering a smooth rollback.

Fully dressed, my '80G can be raised up on the center stand with just a little more effort than a naked bike.

A couple pics of the fix in primer:

          1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
          1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
          1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
          1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.
