This is straight from the manual

Unplug the 4 prong connector from the TCI and check the 4 wires for resistance.
      White/red to White/Green - Pick up coil No.1 720ohms plus/minus 20%
      Yellow/Green to Yellow/Red - Pick up coil No.2 720ohms plus/minus 20%

(This will verify your pick up coil wire fix is good)

Next, with bike on (not running)
      TCI Voltage checks,
With the TCI fully plugged up,
check Grey to ground - 12V
      check White/Red to ground - 12V
      check Black/White to ground - 6V
check Orange to ground - 12V
      check Red/White to ground - 12V
(also check that the black is 0 ohms to ground)

Sorry I can't post up a pic of the TCI Plug, but it should layout like this:
from left to right, top to bottom:

      8 pin connector:
      Grey, White/red, Black/White, empty(free)
      Orange, Red/Yellow, Red/White, Black

      4 pin connector:
      Yellow/Green, Yellow/Red
      White/Green, White/Red

Check this out and if those are all good then your problem may be with the TCI itself.

Here's a pic of the connections where the PU coil wires connect to the wiring harness:

You can check continuity in the PU wires from the coil in question to this splice, which is under the silicone insulating sheathing:

1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
            1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
            1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
            1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
            1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

how many grounds are there? 2? batter and engine?

sparkplug and coils are good because when I connect a tester and touch the black/white wire on the tci socket all 4 sparkplugs spark, only 2 were sparking but after pickupcoil fix. all 4 are sparking.. even when i take my tester and unplug the tip over switch and touch the socket with tester all 4 spark plugs spark for a second... this is nerve racking..
              Grounds:

Battery to frame, connects on the left side to the frame tube that runs up to the top of shock.

Frame to engine, connects to frame behind left sidecover and to rear of engine.

Wiring harness, connects to one of the bolts that hold the regulator/rectifier down under the fuel tank.

All lighting, except headlight, grounds to frame through the fixtures, same with hand controls.

A poor boys method is to take a safety pin and poke the pointed end through the center of the wire you want to check. Ohm from one end of the wire or the other, and you should get an idea of where the break is.
I would start at the closest point you can get to at the pick up coils, and then start back towards the TCI, an inch or so at a time, using the plug at the TCI as one end of the wire being checked.

                  Success!!!!!!!
Thank you alll!!! much love.. bike has finally started.. some more issues are prominent which I will post in a new thread so people can search.
Problem was after fixing the first wire, there was a yellowish wire which is 1 of 2 wires that are very short and bottom of the pick up coil.. coil#2 i believe, so after snipping it,.. pulling some slack by undoing the wrap and getting it together, I got 703 on top pronge and 715 at bottom pronge( tci 4slot pronge) first start the bike came to life!
Now, I changed all 4 gunked up spark plugs and gota get some fuel lines changed, besides that other problems i will mention next thread.. gentlemen and ladies.. if it wasn't for all of you, I would be in deep ****.!
                  1 step closer 2 riding my B***ch

Congrats on your solution. I can tell my pickup wires were fixed at some point. Reading these threads will always remind me of that weak point.
