  • Fuel Petcocks

I am in the process of restoring my 79 xs1100 special and ran into a question.
The carbs were off the bike when I got it and I'm not sure how the petcocks hook up to the carbs.
The tank has a petcock on both sides of it and the petcocks have 2 outlets on them.
The manual that came with the bike shows a completely different petcock.
    All help appreciated

The first question is do You have an 'octopus' .
It mounts to top of the carbs and has a vac line to the carb boot.
    If not, then dont worry.
Front petcock out is on/reserve the rear is prime.
You can cap the prime outlets and run the other ones to each of the carb fuel inlets. (Lower ones. Top ones are carb vents for 78/79 carbs.

          Thanks

OK, I'll see what I can do about connecting the carbs.
          Thanks for the info.

          Happy trails,
