Lost shifter level! Any creative ways to fix?

Someone told me that you can only have a car on the road for a number of years and then you are forced to retire it. Something to do with corrosion? Not sure if that is true...

Yep one little rust spot on certain areas on the body of the vehicle or especially anywhere on a brake line and FAIL!!! Every 2 years you gotta get inspected. All vehicles including motorcycles... And if you put a motor on a bicycle you have to put plates on it and pay taxes on however much horse power it has lol crazy huh? California and Germany should get married they are both regulated as heck sorry for getting off the subject of the original thread

Definately part of the reason we have strict strict strict inspections here in Germany. If you weld any part of the frame your bike goes straight into a X-ray machine No Joke! Change the muffler, you get a decible test! And thats just 2 of a zillion things they are strict on and taking away all our fun Thanks God we still got the autobahn to let loose on but even there they are now creating more and more speed zones...Nooooooooooo

Not to redirect the thread, but is conforming to various national requirements a reason why some bikes are not offered in some places? Cycle World is always crying about this bike or that bike won't be sold in the US; is it because the manufacturer decides against making the mods to fit the market? I know most vehicles have a California version to match our CARB standards so that breathing doesn't get even tougher.

+1 on that; there is no XS issue that someone on here hasn't dealt with at some point. The specific wealth of knowledge available here is incredible.

Ya, beleive it or not I'm probly the only jackass around here riding a bike this time of year but I couldn't resist snowed yesterday while I was working on her outside I'm kinda wondering whats wrong with me Maybe people around here will think I'm crazy and it will work to my advantage somehow hahaha

Yeah, Euro bikes are not even numbered the same as US bikes. As long as the parts fit my bike and look good, I have no worries

Im just saying the parts for your year or model may not match up with the same bike over here. Awhile back me and a cool guy offa this site went over my whole bike and compared it with the original U.S. version and the rims were different for example, emissions laws were different also so you may have all kinds of components on a bike you never seen before, and safety stuff like switches, lights, fuses, and electrical stuff differed also. Also the jetting didnt match. The list goes on and on, its almost like they took whatever parts were left over from various models that year after the big sale (from the XS and the XJ) and mixed em up and made the German model! This has been my fun experience anyway

Yup, the friend is well-versed in XS bikes and the differences between the two. I, however did not know there were so many differences.

Just remember theres UK version over here and German (and maybe other country versions Im not sure?) and they all have different specs. Gotta be precise when you start trying to piece it together cause I have this problem all the time!!!!!! Like I said I usually order out of the USA cause theres so much to choose from there unlike here sometimes and I have found out that German models often match up with couple year older US models for example

Ian, using Anarchy's link and scouring the XS11 parts, just about all the sellers won't ship to the USA.

I'd like to change my foot controls, on my SF, to the 5K7 style also.

Will need the shifter cover too, and the clutch adjustment cover to match.

Might have to make them out of whats available locally.

Yeah, a friend over there is helping me out with the parts.

Well, for me, it's a couple reasons. First, I like the more "rearset" feel of the Euro footpegs, shifter, and brake arm pedal. Second, the Euro standards have the lines on the clutch arm cover as well as the shifter cover. This styling appeals to me, and looks great when the engine is black, and those ridges are silver.

I'm going to set up my SF for more of a 1 up canyon carver and want the rear sets you guys get stock but I need the shifter and brake lever also.
