Hey Joe, if you have power to the coils the next stop is the plugs. Did you check to see if there is spark to the plugs?
A low battery is one of the notorious few. A battery CAN turn the engine over but not have enough spark to fire it. Something with the ballast resistor providing full spark at startup, then reducing it for regular running.
Try one of the other notorious few - the pickup coil wires.
Check your kill switch.Marty in NW PA

What new coils did you put on? I know with my 79 xs11 std when I put the new accel coils on I had to remove the ballast resistor. Is the voltage to the coil 12 volts? Try checking the spark plug wires for continuity with an ohm meter. Maybe your caps arn't make connection with the wires core.
I ran into that problem when I installed my new coils and believe it or not I had four new spark plugs that were all bad. Not even the slightest spark. I could not believe four new plugs were bad.
