I'm pretty sure I picked that headlight off an XV750, but not 100% on that. It's 8" though.

I'm doing another set of rotors for my XS650 project,mostly XS11 braking. I'm going to try and copy a pattern for members to use here. I was asked before, so... 217 holes per rotor

I'd never have the patience to drill 631 holes between three rotors. Insane!

Lookin' good RS. Eveready's comment regarding that banjo had me concerned that I replaced mine in the S/S swap, but I did not. Is than an XJ750 headlight? If I was doing a cafe, that's the way I'd go! Looks great! Gotta love the swiss cheese rotors!

Just wondering if you did all the motor bolts as well. Reason I'm asking is that one of the original bolts on the upper bearing cap for the primary driveshaft is a banjo bolt which feeds oil to the bearing within the case.
It would be BAD ( as in ) if that bolt was inadvertantly swapped for a plain bolt.
Can't see it clearly in any of your engine photos, so here's one I found showing the one in question-

Hi Eveready, Thanks for the info. No, I didn't swap that one. I should clarify: the fasteners that were replaced that would not affect the performance of the engine. All torqued-down spec bolts that hold the head/block together remain, just the mostly 6mm. and some of the 8mm for the middle gear. Cheers.

A couple more more: carb close-up with velocity stack and frame in primer with a couple of solid engine mounts installed for fit-up. All seams have been welded on frame too.

You are doing some killer work Shawn, really like how clean your workspace/bench/engine looks. I'm a little worried about the pink tires on that ATV though. hope that won't happen to the XS.
I'm afraid my resto is nowhere near what you've been doing; mine was to get the collector plates at a minimum cost, but hey it runs great!

I'm still waffling on the Martini idea. I have 'til the new year to settle on the paint...and paint can always change. The battery and harness are under the seat. Shorai unit and new fuse box, re-routing, etc. So, yeah, it'll essentially look this way in the end.

You've done a killer job. I've ridden with Syd on that bike all over hell's half acre through the years. Where are you at? I'm out on Hammond Bay Rd., and just restored my 80 Special to factory spec and got collector plates so I can afford to ride it at a reasonable price. Check the jetting on that bike, and the carbs and make sure the carbs are all the same. I remember Syd and me swearing over those carbs a number of times. :-) and Syd LOVED to upjet carbs.... And you're right, Syd is an awesome guy, we've been biking buddies for 25 years.

Very cool! I'm in Hilliers and work in Campbell River. We'll have to hook up, love to hear some stories.
I found a good rebuildable set of carbs in Alberta and between the two, I have a good set now.

I think that is a multiple-faceted statement with the US Flag, lol. US patriotism, as well as American-made. I guess you could do that up-there with no issues, but down here you might get some cold looks.

I would think it might be ok, because a number of apparel companies have used the Japanese logo on their leather riding gear. There is certainly no issue up here, even though we were up against the Japanese before the U.S. came into the war. Canadians died at HongKong etc., and I suspect if I was going to get hassled it might be from veterans like my dad, but so far nobody has said anything. I understand what you are suggesting though, with the patriotism. That's one thing I respect about the US, their sense of patriotism. I used to try to instill that in my students here in Canada, but we're too damn conservative and polite I think!! They get embarrassed!
