  • xs battery question

I'm trying to crank my bike with a cb12a battery that I had from my previous project. I'm just going on a limb here when I say that I think this battery doesn't have enough cranking amps for an xs. Am I right?

Correct. From memory, the correct battery is a YB18, an 18 amp/hour unit. Your 12 amp/hour battery just isnt going to cut it.

If it is just for test purpose just boost from another battery to get it going.
should run on any 12v battery above 10.5 volts

This is good news! By boost from another battery do you mean run two batteries at once? as in plug up my cb12a onto my bike then use cables to boost off another battery? this sounds interesting.

I once used my truck and jumper cable to start my Kaw ZL600. Pulled them once it started.

            Hi Marc,
Two to start then disconnect the extra. Your "little" battery will keep it running while you do what ever test you need.
