Yes and no. reality is the timing wheel is not an integral part of delivering spark to the engine. it is important for checking and adjusting timing. Which may be in question if it looks like your timing pointer has been adjusted. They have paint on them from the factory, a big gob that makes it kind of obvious if it has been broken and therefore the pointer moved from factory setting. Meaning someone at some time was messing with timing.
If it were me, I would spend the few bucks to get a replacement rotor that has the tabs correct on it. Which leads to the question of which ones interchange, and I do not know that answer.
