It is a 1980 for sure. Even the emblems on the side covers are the 1980 style. I do not think that is a 17" rear wheel. I myself have had two XS11s with cracked rear rotors and had to swap them out, so it is not hard to believe that happened to this bike.

But I also have no clue how in the haties they ran those fuel lines, they run in circles around the velocity stacks and then down the front or something before going to the carbs at some point. They also had no idea what to do with the crankcase vent, it has an airbox, but the vent is ran behind the battery and under the airbox. So whoever worked on the bike did not know the XS11 very well.

It has a pretty good size dent in the tank, and scuff marks on the bottom of the alternator cover, the timing cover looks to be chrome, but the alt and clutch covers are not, so what happened to the stock timing cover?

Good luck on the auction, but IMO, at $1000 it is over priced already compared to what you can get for that money this time of year.

There are bead locks visible, and that was my reasoning for the 17" wheel.

I too agree that the fuel line arrangement is goofy, but prolly was a means to view and then change fuel filters when needed.

Hmm, $1025.00 bucks (next bid increment), not too sure I would go much higher without being able to hear/ride her first. JMHO

        Hi Ian,
yeah ,sure, and BTW I'd rather have a KSS Velocette, or better yet a '47 KSS motor in a '54 MAC sprung frame.
Now if Tony's choice was between a '79 Special and an '80 Special for sure he should get the bike he wants.
But it seems his choice is between an '80 Special and no XS11 at all.
I know which way I'd go.
