Yep I heard it in those videos, all cable operated flat slides.

You don't hear that on diaphragm carb fed sports bikes, go for a set of those carbs.

thanks very much for that...even though it means getting the credit card out again...... I need TPS on my bike, so I'll check out the link and hope they do some with that on, or to which it can be added. And. Thought I'd finished spending!

I could have sent you in the wrong direction there, the link is of R6 carbs on ebay as an eg of flatslide diaphragm carbs, the spacings and size may be incorrect for XS1100's.

A lot of Kawasakis used the same carb spacings as the XS1100, a few lads from the UK, Oz, NZ and here have used Kwak ZRX 1200 carbs, the carbs I have are from ZXR 750 which is a leant forward engine meaning they're downdraft carbs which may present their own problems for me in setting up (float heights). For you I would recommend the ZRX 12 coz theres info on here for set up, but remember thats only a start point, get some dyno time paid for.

And lastly, if your XJR is a later version, does it not already have diaphragm flatslides on it already? I dunno.

                  Flatslides

Thank you Tom B.. What do you others hear? I don't hear that clacking noise others do. Watch the rear tire break lose just a little when I grabbed a handfull.

Videos are difficult to get a good idea of noises, I find. I connected my ipad to big speakers to get a good listen. Undoubtedly there is a chattering there but it could be valve noise. It sounds more chattery at low revs though..typical of cable operated flatslide carbs... But...so difficult to tell on videos.

I think its correct to say that any flatslide non-diaphragm carb will chatter..just the nature of the beast, but, whether it bothers the rider is very subjective.....

                      Flatslides

I do believe that if the idle gets to low these carbs will make some noise. These are racing carbs after all. Set up correctly it can be minimized. You can hear the idle in the video at the stop sign. It's not that high. There's no comparing this with those other video's.
