Air Filter for XJ1100

What are my options for an air filter for my 82 XJ11. The only one listed in any parts catalog is $170.00. Are there any workarounds for a poor man?

Eek! That's a lot of money! Aren't the XS11 and XJ11 filters the same? If so, partsnmore.com has XS11 filters for $18 and I know you can get K&N filters for roughly $40-$50 from Dennis Kirk.

I just checked the Dennis Kirk Catalon Online and the $170 K&N they have listed is for POD Filters, not a stock Element. A stock element should be around $40-$50

Bike Bandit has the stock element for an '82 XJ11 priced at $28.61 and it usually takes them just a few days to get thing to me in Florida from California unless they have to cross-ship or something.

If you search for OEM parts, you need to look for "Element" and not "Filter"

FWIW....

Only the Yamaha OEM filter is available for the stock air box, no aftermarkets like K&N or Uni. It is possible to fit individual filters, look for the 54mm throat size. Most XS carbs take a 52mm throat size, so don't get the ones marketed for the XS. Someone once posted a mod to the air box to get a K&N to fit, search on XJ air box.
