I have always used a blob of grease but the anti seize sounds like a better idea which I will use in future. No glue or paper on the after market gaskets i have used on the XS.

Hi TC,
first time I had the exhaust pipes off my bike I'd never seen a new gasket.
Thought why'd these cheap bastards make these gaskets from folded-up thin sheet copper instead of solid, ah well - - -
Annealed them and put them back. They worked fine.
I was so convinced of being right that when I finally got new gaskets I had to ask the partsman to check they were the right ones.
