In answer to Rasputin, please don't assume you know the Uk guys, you don't! you don't understand their humour.
Knowledgeable blokes using their own brand of humour to help a newbie may appear to be "Bunch of know it all's" to someone not used to another cultures humour. Try reading through some of your own posts, I recently read some of your comments to another member here, condescending was the term that sprung to my mind.
And what was your response to not understanding UK humour? the first line of your post on the UK site "You know of course that most of you guys are A-holes!"
Seems Alex isn't alone in posting insults.
We all have a different approach, most of us just live and let live, appreciate any help, however delivered, condescending, sarcastic or humourous.
Hopefully some of you will now begin to understand my signature line, making fun of myself, a very British use of humour.Tom

In any event, I live and let live, so I left them all to it on the UK site and stuck to this one. That's why I don't like to see (or be the recipient of) that sort of stuff creeping into this site and that's why I'll be ignoring anything like that in future, as if it had not been posted. It's not the first time comments have been made in my direction by this same person and I just don't see what the point of it is. I don't browse the UK site, take a pot-shot at people and then clear off for while until next time I feel like doing it again. As you've advocated, I live and let live, but prefer not to go to that particular site. I'd like to be able to come to this forum without having unfunny one-liners thrown at me from my side of the Pond. I hope this does not rub any the wrong way, but I see the UK site as beautifully designed, but the British counterpart to our ".org" site. I've been on both, and never found the sites easy to navigate for actual help.1979 XS1100F

You make it sound like my first ever post there was the a-hole one. You do not refer to any of the other posts I made. Nor how long I was a member before deciding that it was not worth it. If you notice I did say "most of you were a-holes, not all. I still think so!
I do not know how many posts I made on your beloved unfunny site and I never intend to check. 3 words on a reply with 92 smileys is not for me.
Sometimes I am more than a bit rough on the guys yes, like you say we all have a different approach to certain things.
Alex most certainly is not alone in posting insults. But I would suggest you clean your own house before complaining that mine is dirty. The truth is that you were one I did not mind so much as you seemed to know a whole bunch and were very clear in your explanations. Others were just plain rude.
