So i got myself a 3rd xs.
Cpmaynard sold me his venture.

Here's a pic of it and ALL the parts that came with the deal.





I've Already come up with a name. Hugo. The Looney toons abominable snowman.
"I'll hug him, pet him, and call him George. "

I'll get him unloaded off the truck in a couple of days and start putting humpty dumpty back together again.

My Special is named Scarlet, cause it just kinda fit.
The G is the "Green Monster" Kinda Manly.
I figured the standards are a bit more beefier/manly and need a manly name.

Some assembly required, but that is the fun part of it all anyway ..........
For sure, having 2 is of these is good -but- 3 is certainly better.
Keep us posted, pics too as you start getting this 'H' back together.

I did a poll here about whether XSives think of their bikes as male or female........ I wish I could remember the result! I think most were female but quite a few males too.....

Was wondering what you've been up to lately!? He was supposed to have already done the Dremel fix to the tranny, so it should be a pretty good turnkey bike once you get it back together.

Just was wondering when you were wanting to work on your pipes again??
Also, if you are done with the bank of carbs I lent you, would you mind getting them back to me next time you're over here....like when we go to work on your pipes.

And hey, my bike is also a guy's name (Godzilla), no biggie.

Yup TC the gears that you cut for me where put in and the pinion shaft that bolt George got for me was put it with the strong locktite. It will be a running and ride able with a battery and carbs put on. I test rode it a few times after putting it back together and it shifted and rode well. Only issue I can think of was I couldnt get the brakes to bleed right the last time I messed with it. Its turn key minus battery and carbs. Its a good solid bike I just have ADD and too many bikes so keeping on one is difficult. lol. Its going to a better home and he will enjoy it.

I need to sell off some more of my and buy another one.

So here's Hugo as he sits in my carport.



You can see the Green Monster in the background. He's donating/lending parts so he won't be moving much any time soon.

Thanks to Marty for lending me his rear shock spring compressor, I got the rusty rear springs off and new ones ready to go on. Just waiting for the evaporust to work on the spring cup, slotted washer and the adjustment ring.

I swapped out the handlebars with the G and the hand controls too.

Swapped over the side cover lock assy and the lock for the gas cap too.

Went thru and put some dielectric grease in most of the important connectors. Haven't gotten inside the headlight bucket yet. Waiting to get him riding first before the fairing goes on.

Going to have to get a fuse block from TC. Currently there are inline blade holders, but they work okay.

Got a new walmart battery installed and borrowed the battery/chassis ground strap.

Turn signals work now that I used the older stock flasher instaed of the square box one that was on there. ????

Found out that the 81's have an 'extra' relay under the seat that I didn't know existed. The starter cutout relay. That's why the old clutch perch had a switch in it, even if it was broken. However he'll still start as long as it's in neutral. Gonna have to fix that.

Pulled the whole rear brake assy off and pulled the pistons out. The fluid looked pretty good, but what was under the boots was nasty. Had to borrow the 3 nuts for the rear brake master cylinder cover. Got some of those parts also in the evaporust too.

Cleaned up my G carbs and found out I was one pilot jet short, so I put the 4 'new' ones I had from those kits I got a while back that had the slightly larger orfice and the 8 side holes. I 'll see how they work for now. (I know you'll all say they won't work, but I've got a theory and I need to try it out.)

Found some old tygon fuel line (hard as a rock) and hooked up the carbs and funneled in some fuel to fill the bowls and he fired right up.

Head light waring light comes on, so I may have to go into the headlight bucket after all. May still wait until I get him on the road and then look at that when I put the fairing on.

All in all, a lot of progress this weekend.
Things left to go thru:
Front brakes (more than just a flush)
Swap Key switch & helmet lock
Clean the gas tank
Get some fuel line and filters
Put the rear shocks and brake assy back together
Change the oil and check the gear oils

Unfortunately, it's going to drop into the 40s-50s here this week and the carport faces the north so add the wind chill too. I might not get too much done. (this weekend looks like the 60s though!)

Once all that's done, then it's on to mounting the bags and fairing finding a rear rack so I can mount the trunk and get that tank painted back to somewhat original color.

I think I might have found out why. The bango bolt to the rear master cylinder had no washers in it.

Why is it that particular part number is no longer available, but was still used up to bikes produced in 2011. (90201-10118-00)
It's just a simple banjo bolt crush washer. ???

Take one off somewhere else and go to the parts house and match it up George, it's nothing special.
