80G. stock petcocks. Found fuel leaking from petcock when engine running. No biggie. Carefully ride it home. Get on george fix. Kinda confusing as there were several choices for a G. Took a stab, looked at picture and ordered up. 18-2697 K&L kit. Shows up quick. Pull petcock (of course this always happens with a fulll tank of fuel). Diaphram on my OEM petcocks has locating holes to match up to plastic block. Diaphram in kit does not. Back to george fix. Check out pictures again. Diaphram in kit for Specials has locating holes. Bit the bullet and ordered kit for special hoping the diaphram will be right. Whats up with this?

FWIW, the Special's petcocks are a different animal altogether.
They don't fit a Standard tank, they don't have diaphragms (the auto-shut-off function is done by a separate device, the dreaded octopus valve) and I'm not sure if the internal 4-hole seals are the same.Fred Hill, S'toon

Not sure, but I think the diaphram is the same size on the octopus valve as the "standard" with the exception of the locating holes. Will find out soon enough. If not, I have two kits to return and a petcock I can't fix. Strange thing is I fixed the petcocks years ago and didn't have this problem with the kits. I guess push comes to shove, I can cut my own locating holes but hate hacking into new parts.When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

Got the second kit in for the Special. Has locating holes like the OEM. Had hell getting the petcock to not dribble fuel out. Some flow when in ON and Reserve. Full flow in prime, as it should. finally got it to seal somewhat, very small drip every couple of seconds. Bike runs fine and its not "making oil" so far. Have a look at this thread that talks about the petcock spooge hole. This may be why your diaphragm is not pushing back far enough to completely shut off the flow of fuel. You may also need to stretch the springs a wee bit.Ken Talbot
