  • These rear left wheel bearings.....again

    Hi All

I have just acquired another 18 rear left wheel wheel bearings.....you know, the caged needle one that we all know and love. Not only did I get them for less than I normally have to pay but the package arrived untouched by UK Customs, so I didn't have to pay import duty... a rare bonus. This means that they will cost a mere $24.40 each, with worldwide airmail postage at $7.27 for any quantity up to three bearings.

If members of this illustrious forum would like any, please PM me and I'll get them sent out.........

I only wish I had a bike to use one on. Something has happened here in the UK and they just don't seem to come up for sale much these days. When they do, they are usually in a poor state or not my preferred European model. We are also getting imports of the them from the US now. Is one to deduce that the trusty old Xs's are now being retained by gloating owners and finally being recognised for the classic that they are?
XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. New project now on the go. 1980 European model.

I went to a major vintage motorcycle event last week. The Barber Vintage Fest is now the biggest in the US. I went on my XS1100, our own Brent went on his. I heard there was one in the swap meet, but it was gone before I got there. I think these bikes are getting rare.

I've got one for sale still. It's been on thief bay twice now and not made the reserve.
I wouldn't say it's in a poor state and it must be alright to have been on the XS1100UK stand at the Stafford show last weekend.
You must have seen it before, my red/orange one with the XJR seat and tail.
        PM me if you're interested.

I must have missed it when on eBay. I've looked, seen one or two really bad ones and got disheartened. I haven't been looking all the time...hence probably missing some. What I'd really like is an XS that hasn't been modified too much to start with as it is expensive to reverse many of the modifications that people do. My objective is to get the bike looking standard, or very near to standard....

Yes, I am! Performance-wise the XJR is superior, of course. And it's a nice looking bike and I love it. But....the Xs1100 is kind of etched in my psyche, if you see what I mean? But it has to be the European version with black engine...ie just like the one I bought new when I was 19. Wonder if that's something to do with it?

Yes, that bike was, and still is, a real beauty. The person who bought it from me has done only 100 miles on it and emailed me to ask if I'd like to buy it back. I couldn't afford it! It reached £4700 on eBay but didn't meet the reserve.

I'd enjoy doing it all over again, if only I could find the right bike as a start...
