what is a link to search a vin/serial number to find out what year and model of bike. This one is 5N9-001486 I know it's a Yamaha 650 but that's all.

Those little Maxim 650's are quick, and actually cruise nicely on the slab! Don't let the size fool ya'!

Yes this is a nice little bike. I met this 70's something gentleman on it and he's having trouble getting it to run right. Bought it at the beginning of summer. I haven't been able to use my shop cuz of the fire but told him to find my house in the fall and I'd store it for him over the winter and getting running properly over the winter. I've taken it for a couple rides and it's a good rider. I think his carbs need some work and I'll check the pick-up coils and adjust his valve shims as a starting point. The cables are stiff so the idle hangs and it back fires and misses every once in a while. Could be a small leak at the intake boots but I'll look closer when I clean his carbs.
